Synchronize! makes it easy to move a particular set of files from one folder to another. This is useful for finding all files older than a particular date (to make space on your disk), or for extracting all word processor files whose name contained a particular keyword.
To move a particular set of files to another folder:
1. Create a new folder.
2. Create a new Synchronize! settings document, by choosing New from the File menu.
3. In the settings document, choose the folder you created. Click the folder icon to choose the folder.
4. Click the other folder icon to choose the folder from which you want to extract the files. Check the "Master" box under this folder icon.
5. Choose "Copy only files..." from the Options menu. Use the dialog to set criteria for the files you wish to move. Remember that you can exclude files, too, using "Don’t copy files..." from the Options menu.
6. Start the synchronization.
Synchronize! shows you the files which will be moved. If any files should not be moved, select the file and click the "Remove from list" button.
When the move is complete, the files which were mixed with all the others are now separately placed in the same folder scheme as before.
